Wayne Donald serves as the Information Technology Security Officer at Virginia Tech. In that capacity, he ensures that the university has the technology tools, education, awareness, and guidance necessary to work towards a safe and secure information technology environment. He also oversees the IT Security Laboratory and the Information Resource Management (IRM) department. IRM provides necessary support for secure access to information resources, as well as administrative operations. Mr. Donald has been at Virginia Tech since 1969. Prior to being named the IT Security Officer, he served in various positions within the information technology organization at Virginia Tech. Mr. Donald is active in national organizations such as EDUCAUSE, CUMREC, and the Computer Security Institute, and in state-level groups such as VA SCAN and ACCS.
